Brendon joins Stock Up For Hope

Stock Up For Hope is an innovative fundraising initiative from SU Qld. It allows livestock owners to provide genuine support for the work of chaplains in the bush through the 'livestock economy'. SU Qld recognises that in many cases it is difficult for primary producers to make cash donations, so Stock Up for Hope was created, which relies on the donation of livestock to raise funds, amongst other options.

The inaugural Stock Up for Hope Charity Drove will see around 1000 head of cattle moved from Hughenden to Blackall over a 9-week period this spring. The drove, managed by professional drovers, will finish in Blackall in October for a special Thursday fixture, with all profits from the sale supporting Queensland youth in the bush.

Brendon Walmsley will be joining the drove 3 times over the next month singing his songs around the campfire each night. "I've often sung and written songs about life in the outback, but to experience it first-hand is something really special. At the same time, it's a privilege to be part of an event bringing hope to the children in our regional schools" says Brendon.

All money raised through the Stock Up for Hope Charity Drove will enable SU Qld chaplains and youth support workers to be appointed in regional schools and communities to curb unacceptable incidents of suicide, mental health, substance abuse, depression etc.

In the past 15 years, SU Qld has established over 200 chaplains in schools statewide. These chaplains come from a range of professional and Christian denominational backgrounds, united by a common resolve to invest in bringing hope to young people.
